There’s no substitute for professional legal advice

“There’s no such thing as a free lunch,” goes the old saying. And it’s true: unless you’re one of
the lucky few to work at home or own your own company, you’re going to have to pay for your
lunch. But now that sandwiches are being replaced by gourmet salads, who knows how much
they cost?
In fact, there is one way to get your lunch for free: by paying a lawyer to write it for you. This
may sound like an odd idea, but if you’re running a small business or creating a new creative
work, it could be just what you need.
One of my biggest mistakes was failing to seek legal advice before signing contracts with clients
and partners. Had I followed my lawyer’s recommendations at every step along the way, things
would have gone much smoother for me (and probably saved me money as well).
Legal advice is one of the most important investments that you can make in your business or
creative project. Without legal advice, you could end up losing valuable time, money and
reputation.
Here are some tips for finding and working with a lawyer:

  1. Don’t go it alone
There’s no substitute for professional legal advice. You might be able to find a good deal on a
discounted service or product, but if it’s not tailored to your specific needs, it could cost you
more than it saves. In many cases, working with an attorney will also give you peace of mind
that everything is covered and done properly.
  2. Know what you need (and what you don’t)
It’s important to understand what kind of legal help you need before looking for an attorney. If
there’s one issue that keeps coming up in your business or creative work — or if there are certain
laws that apply to your situation — then this may be an area where an attorney can help
streamline processes and save time and money over the long run. On the other hand, if you’re
simply looking for general information about how different types of contracts work or how to
file taxes properly, there are plenty of resources online that can help guide you through these
    processes without having to pay
  3. Just do it!
